Film faced plywood is typically reused several to more than ten times, and PP film plywood is made for more reuses than standard phenolic film. The real number depends on the film, the core, how the sheets are handled, cleaned, oiled and stored, and whether cut edges are sealed.
What decides the number of reuses
- Film type and weight: heavier phenolic film and PP film last longer.
- Core and glue: a WBP-glued hardwood or combi core resists swelling.
- Edges: water enters through unsealed cut edges and delaminates the sheet.
- Handling: dropping, prying with bars and nailing through the face destroy the film.
- Storage: UAE sun and heat dry out and crack sheets left uncovered.
Getting more pours from each sheet
- Apply release agent before every pour.
- Clean with a soft scraper, not a hammer or bar.
- Seal every cut edge with edge paint the same day.
- Store flat, off the ground, covered from sun and rain.
- Fill nail holes and repair damaged film quickly.
Cost per pour
Divide the sheet price by the number of pours you expect. A dearer sheet with more reuses is often cheaper per pour. Ask us to compare PP and phenolic film options for your project.
